Healthy & wholesome Japanese breakfast rice sandwich (onigirazu)Print Recipe
- 1/2 cup rice (freshly cooked and still warm)
- 2 rashers bacon, grilled and sliced into 10cm length pieces
- 1 ramen egg (see ramen egg recipe)
- Kewpie mayonnaise
- 1 nori seaweed
Place plastic glad wrap on the table
Place nori seaweed on top of the plastic wrap diagonally
Place square-shaped rice diagonally on the nori seaweed
On top of the rice place the grilled bacon
Add the sliced avocado on top of the bacon
Add the boiled ramen egg (sliced in half) on top of the avocado and kewpie mayonnaise
Add the final layer of rice on top
Fold 2 ends of the seaweed over the rice, snip the edges with scissors and fold the other 2 sides over to make a compact rice sandwich
Firmly wrap the plastic around the sandwich and cut with a sharp knife
*Tip: moisten the knife with a wet cloth before cutting, to avoid the rice sticking to the knife and therefore giving a nice clean cut.
